Ithaca Closes City Facilities amid Winter Emergency

City facilities in Ithaca will be closed on Monday, January 26, 2025, following a State of Emergency declared by Acting City Manager Dominick Recckio. The State of Emergency, effective from 6:00 p.m. on January 25, was issued due to snow accumulation and unsafe travel conditions.

The closures affect City offices, the Cass Park Ice Rink, and GIAC/Youth Bureau programs. However, the Department of Public Works, the Ithaca Fire Department, and the Ithaca Police Department will continue essential operations such as snow clearing and emergency response.

Curbside trash collection has been postponed one day for this week. Residents are encouraged to monitor City communications and weather advisories for further updates.

In the event of a power outage, residents are advised to report issues to NYSEG by calling 1‑800‑572‑1131 or by using NYSEG's online or mobile reporting tools. Residents can also check NYSEG’s outage map for restoration updates.
