Cornell Celebrates Olin Library’s Modern Reopening

Cornell University will hold a reopening celebration for Olin Library on August 27 from noon to 2 p.m. The event marks the completion of a major renovation that modernized access and spaces on the library’s first and lower floors. Construction for the project began in December 2024.

In a nod to the library’s history, the iconic call board that once displayed numbered calls for waiting students will be used to display winning raffle numbers. The celebration will also include a welcome speech by Carl A. Kroch University Librarian Elaine L. Westbrooks at 12:15 p.m.

Visitors will have the opportunity to visit open houses for the new Anthropology Collaboratory at 1 p.m. and the Cornell University Library Map Collection at 1:30 p.m.

The event represents a new chapter in the ongoing evolution of Olin Library, a space that has long served the Cornell University community.
