Cornell Welcomes Largest Army ROTC Cadet Class

Cornell University has announced that a total of 33 new Army cadets have been accepted into its Tri-Service Brigade, the largest number since 1992. The new cadets, which include 29 first-year students from Cornell and four students from other regional campuses, received camouflage uniforms along with Cornell-issued ID cards, room keys, and tote bags.

Among the new Army cadets is Andy McMurray ’29 from Long Island. McMurray, who is entering the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Cornell and the ROTC program, said he feels “official” after receiving his uniform.

In addition to the Army cadets, Cornell welcomed 21 new midshipmen who are working toward commissions in the Navy and Marines. The university also introduced 19 rookie Air Force cadets, 10 of whom are from Cornell. All of these new members are part of Cornell's ongoing commitment to its Reserve Officers’ Training Corps programs.
