**Livingston County Hosts New York Safe Boating Course**

Livingston County Sheriff's Office reported that members of the local community participated in the New York Safe Boating Course today. The 8-hour class was held at the Emergency Operations Center at the Hamptons Corners facility.

The course, approved by the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation, and Historical Preservation, covered various essential topics. Participants learned about rules of the nautical road, required safety equipment, seamanship, special boating activities, and more.

Completion of the course provides a Safe Boating Certificate, which will be required for all boat operators in New York State starting January 1, 2025.

Sergeant Miller, who oversees the Navigation Unit, and Deputy Telesca are among the instructors involved in teaching these classes. The Sheriff's Office has announced plans to host additional Safe Boating courses later this year, encouraging residents to stay updated for future dates.

For more information on future sessions, visit the Livingston County Sheriff's Office webpage or follow their updates.
